Expressions of interest in a PhD studentship (funded for 3.5 years) are being considered in the area of physical organic chemistry for an EU or UK national with a prospective start date between November 2017 and September 2018. Congratulations to Dr James Cooper on winning the best poster prize/short lecture at the Gordon Research Conference on Artificial Molecular Switches and Motors in Holderness, USA. His prize was a copy of "The Nature of the Mechanical Bond" signed by Nobel Laureatte, Prof. Sir Fraser Stoddart (and James's current supervisor!). His poster and lecture featured his work on the discrimination of supramolecular chirality using protein nanopores. Thanks are due to Prof. Sir Fraser Stoddart for his support in enabling James to attend this fantastic conference.

We welcome Ellie Cockroft to the group after 41 weeks of gestation. As shown in the picture, Ellie has a rapidly developing interest in carbon nanotechnology, with a particular focus on aromatic chemistry and buckyballs.
