Belize is a small country located on the Caribbean coast that borders Mexico and Guatemala. Belize was formerly a British colony and was known as British Honduras. It's possible that Belize is a corruption of the name "Wallace", who is believed to have been a well known pirate who operated in the area during the 17th Century.
