- 19 April 2011 Olga's work on high pressure phase of sulphur was the inspiration for one of the movements of a string trio piece, debuted today, called "In Extremis"
composed by a Scottish musician Julian Wagstaff. Read more here.
- 11 April 2011 Olga is appointed as an Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Edinburgh, where she is an academic staff.
(It's time to turn the frustration from the difficulties of being a researcher while caring for a young family into some positive actions!)
- 5 April 2011 Olga's research paper on high-pressure synthesis of silane recently published in a high-profile journal of Physical Review Letters is featured in this week's
Spotlight on Science of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
- 14 March 2011 Olga presented a science poster at the SET for Britain event at the Palace of Westminster in London, home of the UK Parliament.
- 2 March 2011 A research article on high-pressure behaviour of a material that is used to make silicon for the production of solar cells - silane - is published
in Physical Review Letters. Check out High-Pressure Synthesis, Amorphization, and Decomposition of Silane
- 10 January 2011 Olga's latest scientific publication on cold melting of lithium
was featured in the El País (The Country)
- the most widely-circulated newspaper in Spain.
- 9 January 2011 Olga appeared in Nature Physics journal with a publication of her scientific research
reporting a very low melting temperature in the highly compressed lithium.
The same day this publication has been featured in the ESRF News. ESRF is a large central facility in France
where Olga and her colleagues conducted part of their experimental studies on lithium.
Among others, a news article has also been published by APS at Argonne National Laboratory
and Physorg.com
- 14/09/2010 A review article on Crystal structure of simple metals
at high pressures just got published in the High Pressure Research journal and is added to the list of publications.
- 17/08/2010 Olga has won the 2010 European High Pressure Research Group (EHPRG) Award for her contribution into the
studies of pressure-induced complexity of simple elements. She was presented with the award and deliver a plenary talk at the 48th EHPRG Meeting in Uppsala,
Sweden. Click here to read more.
