John Moore's areas of specialization include economic theory; contracts, credit and money; and organization of the firm. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Econometric Society, the European Economic Association, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, as well as a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Economic Association. He is a recipient of the Yrjö Jahnsson Award by the European Economic Association, and was a Leverhulme Personal Research Professor and ESRC Professorial Fellow. He was the Director and the Managing Editor of the Review of Economic Studies, and was a member of Executive Council of the Econometric Society. He is currently the Director of the Scottish Institute for Research in Economics (SIRE).
