Edinburgh South-West - John Blair-Fish
About Your Green Candidate
John Blair-Fish studied at Oxford then obtained a Meteorology PhD at Edinburgh University where he now works as a computing officer. John chairs the Edinburgh World Development Movement and has been active in campaigns on debt and fair trade. He is also an active Church member, a keen cyclist and hill runner.
John will work to
- make sure that Britain uses its place in the world to help developing countries through fair trade, debt relief, and to save them from unjust wars;
- ensure asylum seekers and immigrants are not deprived of basic living costs and rights;
- protect the interests of local traders and access to shops by bicycle or foot;
- ensure that green spaces in Edinburgh are preserved for recreation and saved from further development;
- ensure decisions are reached at the most local and appropriate level.
John says
“This election essentially concerns issues decided at Westminster. You need to vote for someone you can trust to protect the decision making process of the Scottish Parliament and who will not accept decisions on wars and trade which are primarily in the interests of powerful corporations.”
